Painter Evrika Zatikyan was born on June 20, 1950 in the town of Armavir, Armenia. After graduation from high school in 1966 he entered the College of Art and Technology. In 1967 he was arrested for creating paintings that were deemed anti-Soviet and was sentenced to a year of imprisonment. Upon his release in 1968, Zatikyan was accepted to the Art Department of The State Pedagogical Institute, from which he graduated in 1973. From 1982 to 1992, Zatikyan worked as an artist decorator in the State Theatre of Drama. Throughout these years he was also actively participating in art exhibitions, Zatikyan's paintings have been shown in the local, state and international art shows.
The paintings by Zatikyan are kept in the County Museum of Art (Art Rental and Sales Gallery) and also in many private collections in Russia, Ukraine, Baltics states, France, Germany, Czechoslovakia, Poland and the USA (over 800 paintings are in the possesion of private collectors in the United States).
